GTA 6 is scheduled to release on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The date follows two delays from the original fall 2025 window, with Rockstar saying the extra time is needed to deliver the quality players expect. A PC version has not been dated yet.
Rockstar and Take-Two have never published an official figure, but industry reports estimate the budget at around $2 billion once development and marketing are combined. That would make GTA 6 the most expensive video game ever made, reflecting years of work by thousands of developers across Rockstar’s studios.
GTA 6 pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026 through the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store and major retailers. Pre-ordering secures a launch-day copy for November 19, and digital buyers can usually pre-load the game shortly before release. Always buy through official stores to avoid fake pre-order pages.
Rockstar has not announced a PC version of GTA 6 yet. The studio usually launches on consoles first: GTA 5 reached PC about a year and a half after its console debut, and Red Dead Redemption 2 followed a year later. Most analysts expect a similar gap, pointing to 2027 or later.
GTA 6 has taken more than a decade since GTA 5 because Rockstar is building its largest, most detailed world yet, with dense interiors, smarter AI and new engine technology. The studio also spent years supporting GTA Online and Red Dead Redemption 2, reportedly reduced crunch, and delayed launch twice for polish.
